So You Think You Can Dance Canada Predictions?

October 14, 2009

So You Think You Can Dance Canada Predictions

Shawn B and Everett... chillin?.

Shawn B and Everett... chillin?.

Who will be the final two dancers left on So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s second season?

Jayme Rae is throwing down pretty hard. So is Emanuel with all his injuries. I think Everett will capture a ton of votes… But the girls have clearly been stepping their game up each week.

Who do you think will end up the top two SYTYCD Canada dancers? Melanie, Tara or Vincent? They’re ALL firecrackers, it’s a pretty tough one to decide.

Leave your thoughts, and stay tuned!

July 19, 2009
Learn how to dance in Toronto!

Learn how to dance in Toronto!

Inspired from watching So You Think You Can Dance (Canada) and Dancing With The Stars? Want to learn to look like a pro dancer?

Here’s a question: If you’ve never danced before, and have no formal training, what style of dance would you most like to learn and why?

I specialize in tap dance and hip hop dance, but would love to learn tango. Such a passionate and dynamic art form!

Shawn Byfield and Melissa Williams

Shawn Byfield and Melissa Williams

Last week was finals week for Extreme Dance Convention, run by Melissa Williams. She runs an inspiring dance convention for all the participants, apprentices and dance instructors like myself.

I was lucky enough to be the tap dance teacher for the week with some super students. They definitely danced their hearts out, and rose to the challenge every dance class brought them.

Here’s some footage of the senior tap dance choreography we did:

Celebrate Being Canadian EVERY Day

July 2, 2009
In Canada, we are free to dance!

In Canada, we are free to dance!

I wish everyone a Happy Canada Day, month and year. We live in a country where we are all free to write, learn, travel, love and dance. We have access to the things and basic services we need.

Let’s always remember the blessings we have, just by living in THIS country.

Do not take your life for granted. Being a Canadian, we can create our own joy, can live a healthy life and have the right to fulfill our own opportunity without fear.

My friends, we have much to celebrate. So seize every day!

How Hip Hop Dance Boosts Your Energy

June 1, 2009

Hip Hop Dance – PCD Part 1

Springtime showers bringing you down lately? Not as happy, motivated or inspired as you’d like to be?

Yup, we all feel the effects of cloudy weather. But here’s an easy way to pick you mood up:

Hip hop dance classes are an instant boost to your energy. Sharp movements awaken the muscles throughout your body, and the cardio workout is guaranteed to get your heart pumping.

The best part is, the coordination in hip hop dance forces your brain to wake up, leaving you in a more energized mood. And when you’re energized, you’ll be ready to face the challenges of your day with a more positive mindset.

Hip Hop Dance – PCD part 2

So get into a hip hop dance class and work it out!
